Job Description

Yard Tractor OperatorOperate yard tractors and trucks within parking, yard, and docking areas to move, position, and park trailers in support of shipping and receiving operations. Transport equipment for service or repair as needed while following all safety, quality, and DOT requirements. Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly yard environment.Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesMove trailers based on operational priorities to support plant efficiency and production needsHook, unhook, and shuttle trailers to docks, yard locations, and service departmentsSpot loaded and empty trailers at assigned dock doors for loading and unloadingConnect loaded trailers to tractors for route and OTR driversMaintain accurate trailer movement and inventory logsConduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report equipment issuesPerform preventive maintenance checks in the yard areaMaintain a clean and sanitary work areaWash tractors and trailers as required for the locationComply with all DFA Quality, Safety, DOT, and GMP policiesAttend required driver training and workshopsThe requirements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by the employee, but is not a complete list of responsibilities, duties, and skills required. Other duties may be assigned as required.Education and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or equivalentTractor/trailer experience within the last five years preferredMust meet all DOT and DFA Motor Vehicle Record requirementsValid Class A CDL in state of residenceTanker endorsement requiredKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of DOT transportation regulationsStrong safety awareness and hazard recognitionBasic computer and technology skillsAbility to perform basic math calculationsEffective verbal and written communication skillsStrong teamwork and interpersonal skillsAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionDependable, punctual, and adaptable to changeMust be able to read, write, and speak EnglishAn Equal Opportunity Employer including Disabled/Veterans
